Scripts
Here you can find some of the scripts I have written, from full-scale productions to shorter scratch pieces. My work continues to explore race, queerness, and mental health - but in a theatrical setting either on the stage or screen.
The Empty Hand (2021-2022)
Written in 2021 and performed February 2022, The Empty Hand is intended to show how the queer past and present interact, set against fictional riots meant to mimic the Stonewall Riots.
The script aims to explore how prejudices and attitudes towards queerness have changed and how they have endured.
It Starts with a Kiss (2021)
A short scene study into club culture in the 21st century. While written from a queer lens, It Starts with a Kiss is meant to be able to apply to every person who has engaged in this culture or the actions implied in the script.
The Last Flame (2021)
A scene designed for the camera, an interview with a narcissistic, arrogant “diva” with some less than savoury opinions. The Last Flame intends to explore the place celebrities hold in society and whether a person is truly deserving of all the fame and grandeur they have acquired for themselves over the years; and if we - the public - should hold them in as high regard as we do.
When I Started Growing My Hair (2021)
A monologue exploring micro-aggressions. When I Started Growing My Hair shows a speaker getting their hairstyles while recounting all the changes they have made to their hair (afros, cuts, twists, cainrows, and more), the reactions of the people around them, and how this impacted the speaker.
Too Long Unsaid (2019)
A collection of poetry around a monologue of a character’s coming out. Too Long Unsaid takes a look at the reality of growing up gay in the 21st century, showing a character moving through secondary school and progressing to university. The pieces explore the transition between school and further study, mental health, relationships, love, politics, and much more in a 30 minute piece.
